E-4 Blog Post 5: A Change to my Study Program

In my study programme (this semester I will make it clear)  I have a l ot of subjects, 8  in total.

Which 5 are theoretical (more classic or normal classes) and the other 3 are more artistic like drawing, the central workshop and the complimentary workshop.

This is my locker :D
The “central workshop” is the main one, where you make your artwork. The works that define you as an artist and your direction (your message).

Previously my central workshop was engraving but for different reasons, the main one being that I had creative differences with the teacher.

Therefore I changed to another, and now I do paintings.

And there is the complementary workshop in which I chose art and advertising.

Generally the teaching methods are different between the teachers, but they tend to be pretty chill (almost hippie), it is really uncommon for a teacher to be strict.

And now the workload can be a lot if you don't organize your time well and are constant on doing the work. You can do it in your time but you have to deliver it in the deadline.

Our infrastructure is... terrible, there's no way to sugarcoat it, there are holes in the walls, our faculty's casino had no roof until recently, there are no chairs and other artistic implements are in poor condition.

And so, a long etcetera.

Still, despite my criticisms of the arts education system, I enjoy studying at this faculty, it has a certain charm and I do not regret having chosen arts.

  1. It is very worrying how they still do not give importance to the arts in our country and waste many talents. But it's good that that didn't discourage you.

  2. It's really crazy of how the art faculties are the most careless, In my opinion they would be the most beautiful buildings between all the university buildings. By the way there is something that almost all the art students have (and I think you have), and it's the motivation to keep studying and reach their objectives no matter the problems.

  3. Sometimes it feels like a challenge to study in a place like this, in terms of infrastructure. Somehow it affects the mood. But I think that having the opportunity to study something you like is always a motivation.

studying art has to be for love
